FAQ
Q1: Is this knife made of real Damascus steel? Or is it just a damascus pattern?
The HS1074 blade is made of 4CR13 stainless steel, and the pattern is a “Damascus-style” laser-engraved decorative layer. It is not multi-layer forged true Damascus steel. However, the visual effect is very close, while retaining the excellent rust resistance and easy maintenance of 4CR13 steel. True Damascus is expensive and requires careful care – our laser-patterned product offers a perfect compromise for customers who want the look and good value.
Q2: Is the resin handle sturdy? Will it loosen after prolonged use?
Very solid. The resin handle encapsulates an extended tang and is double-secured to the stainless steel cast bolster via mechanical locking and adhesive bonding. Under normal use (slicing vegetables/meat), it will not loosen. Do not use the spine to strike hard objects or chop bones.
Q3: Can this knife be used to cut frozen meat or bones?
Not recommended. The HS1074 is a slicing knife designed for fresh or thawed meat, fish, and vegetables. The blade is thin with a small edge angle. Cutting frozen meat or bones will cause chipping or rolling. For bone-in ingredients, please use a dedicated cleaver.
Q4: Will laser Damascus patterns fade or wear out?
The laser-engraved pattern is physically etched into the steel surface, so it will not “peel” like a coating. However, after years of use and repeated washing, the contrast of the pattern may slightly diminish. Under normal home use, it will remain clear for 2-3 years. Avoid scrubbing with steel wool or abrasive pads.
Q5: Can I have this laser pattern and logo on my own brand knife?
Yes. We offer full customization: you can choose from our existing laser pattern templates or provide your own artwork. We can also laser engrave your brand logo on the blade or handle. MOQ starts from 500 pieces depending on complexity. Please provide your design files, and we will create sample renderings for approval.
Q6: What is the hardness of this knife? Will it be broken?
The hardness of heat-treated 4CR13 steel is approximately 54-56 HRC. This range provides good edge retention while retaining sufficient toughness to resist chipping under normal slicing tasks. Cutting very hard items (bones, frozen food, hard cheese rinds) may damage the edge.
Q7: Will the stainless steel part on the handle rust?
The stainless steel part of the handle is S430# (ferritic stainless steel with high chromium content), which resists rust well in a daily kitchen environment. However, avoid prolonged soaking in salt water or contact with strong acidic liquids. Simply wipe dry after each use to keep it shiny.
